F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Great question! Most people think of style, but window tinting offers so much more. For your vehicle, it significantly reduces heat and glare, making your drives around Navarre much more comfortable. It also blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting your skin and preventing your car’s interior from fading and cracking. Plus, it adds a layer of privacy and can help hold shattered glass together in an accident. For your home or business, tinting helps lower energy bills by rejecting solar heat, reduces glare on screens, protects your furniture and flooring from UV fading, and enhances privacy and security.

A: Yes, it is, but there are specific regulations in Florida that we adhere to strictly at Elite Window Tinting. For cars, the rules specify how dark the tint can be on different windows. For example, front side windows must allow more than 28% of light in, while back side windows and the rear window can be darker, allowing more than 15% of light in. Windshields have restrictions too, typically allowing a non-reflective tint only on the top portion (AS1 line). We’re fully up-to-date on all Florida laws and will ensure your tint is compliant, so you have no worries.

A: We use high-quality window films designed for durability, which typically last for many years – often the lifetime of your vehicle or for 10-15+ years on residential applications, depending on the film type and conditions. To care for your tinted windows, it’s best to wait a few days after installation before cleaning them (we’ll give you specific instructions). After that, use an ammonia-free cleaner and a soft cloth or rubber squeegee. Avoid abrasive materials or sharp objects that could scratch the film. Proper care ensures your tint stays looking great and performing well for years to come.

A: Not at all, unless you specifically opt for a very dark, limo-style tint (where legally applicable for vehicles). Modern window films come in a wide variety of shades and technologies. Many films are designed to block significant heat and UV rays without drastically reducing visible light. We can help you choose a film that provides the protection and comfort you want while maintaining excellent visibility and the desired level of natural light in your home or a comfortable view out of your car. We have samples you can see to help you decide!

A: That’s an excellent question, as the type of film used makes a big difference in performance and longevity! Here’s a quick rundown of some common types:

  • Dyed Film: This is generally the most affordable option and provides good glare reduction and privacy. It gets its color from a dye layer. While effective for aesthetics, it typically offers lower heat rejection and UV protection compared to other types and may fade over time.
  • Carbon Film: Carbon films contain microscopic carbon particles that are very effective at blocking infrared light (which causes heat) without looking overly dark. They offer good UV protection, won’t fade like dyed films, and have a stylish matte finish. They are a great mid-tier option.
  • Ceramic Film: This is a premium, high-performance option. Ceramic films use non-conductive, non-metallic ceramic particles. They provide superior heat rejection, excellent UV protection, and maximum clarity without interfering with electronic signals (like GPS, cell phones, or radio – which some older metallic films could do). Ceramic films are incredibly durable and maintain their color and performance for a very long time. They are often the best choice for maximum comfort and protection in the Florida sun.
